For once, elected officials of all political stripes agree. On December 30, the closure of the post office on rue de Pessac had aroused the anger of many residents and led to a reaction of many local elected officials, starting with Pierre Hurmic, the ecologist mayor of Bordeaux. A few months after the closure of this post office, other elected officials from Bordeaux had also seized the subject. Thomas Cazenave, Renaissance deputy of the Gironde and opposition municipal councilor, and Nathalie Delattre, senator of the Gironde, had written in March to the chairman and CEO of the group La Poste to express their attachment to this particular post office, an "essential link" of public services.
