Iron Dome interceptions over Sderot (Yanir Yagna)
The head of Islamic Jihad's political department, Mohammed al-Handi, arrived in Cairo for talks with senior Egyptian intelligence officials on the terms of the ceasefire in Gaza, Al-Arabiya and the Turkish News Agency reported on Thursday. At the same time, rocket fire continues at communities near the Gaza Strip, albeit at a lower frequency than yesterday.
Tonight, the IDF eliminated Islamic Jihad rocket commander Ali Ali in an Israeli air strike in the southern Gaza Strip. Ali, who was responsible for the rocket barrages during Operation Shield and Arrow, was killed in the hiding apartment where he was staying in Khan Yunis. He also participated in firing at Israel during Operation Dawn and Guardian of the Walls and is considered a central figure in the organization. According to Palestinian reports, two other Islamic Jihad operatives who were with him in the apartment were also killed in the attack.
Islamic Jihad responded to the attack: "Eliminating the commander of the rocket system will not stop the rocket fire, we have the ability to expand the circle of fire. The policy of elimination by bombing residential buildings will not bring victory to the enemy; the next blows will expose its weakness."
