Coulommiers is a town of 15,000 inhabitants southeast of Meaux. It is located in a rural area, surrounded by small municipalities. The Templar district, where the shots were fired, is on the heights. It takes its name from a former commandery of the Order of the Templars that is still there. Close to this historical heritage is the hospital. The district is presented as "disadvantaged" by a specialist in the recent history of the city. An underground economy would have developed there, but it would not lead to unrest. Drug trafficking is said to be "well established" but "not very visible".
Until now, there had never been a settling of accounts in Coulommiers. Our local historian concludes: "This is probably due to a history of narcotics. What else could it be? »
