Former U.S. President Donald Trump was indicted Friday for mishandling classified government documents, U.S. media reported.
According to the report, Trump is charged with seven different counts, including intentionally concealing classified documents, contempt of court and providing a false affidavit. CNN reported that Trump is also accused of violating the U.S. Espionage Act, which deals with illegally storing security information that could harm the country.

"The corrupt Biden administration has informed my lawyers that I have been indicted," Trump lashed out. He added: "We continue to pursue a popular president who has received more votes than any sitting president in history who leads significantly in polls against Biden."
He added: "I am an innocent man, this is a war on the law. We can't let that happen. We will prove that I am innocent."
U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said the indictment against Donald Trump was a "black day" for the United States. He said he stood with Trump and against what he called the blatant use of government power as a weapon.

FBI agents raided Mar-a-Lago, former President Donald Trump's vacation home, last August. At the time, the former president noted, "The raid was unannounced, and they even broke into my safe."
Just last March, a New York jury voted to indict Trump in the hush money case for actress Stormy Daniels. Trump responded strongly to the indictment, saying, "This is political persecution and election interference at the highest level in history.
