The FC Barcelona is in the transfer dispute with league rivals Atlético Madrid to football world champion Antoine Griezmann almost unpunished. The Spanish Football Federation RFEF imposed a mini penalty of only € 300 against the reigning champion after Atlético had protested against the transfer.
Both clubs had done a week-long hiccup. Griezmann was finally transferred to Barça in July for 120 million euros. Atlético, however, demanded a € 80 million look-ahead, as it was "evident" that the agreement between the player and FC Barcelona was closed before the exit clause was lowered from € 200 million to € 120 million, "it said.
According to the association, the allegation could not be proven, Barça had not allowed a grosser violation of the rules, it said. Atlético had expected a much tougher punishment. In the run-up to the judgment, there had been talk of a stadium ban or a very high fine for the Catalans.
