Flamengo qualified for the Qatar World Cup final on Tuesday after a 1: 3 win over Saudi Arabia's Al Ahli.
The Asian champion was surprised when he led by Salem Al-Devasari's early goal 45 minutes later, but second half South American champion Portuguese coach Georgesza Jesus took over. Giorgian de Arascata, Bruno Henrica and Ali Albulay's self-made score made Flamengo a first-round ticket since 1981 with a 1: 3 win.
Then, nearly four decades ago, the Brazilians met Liverpool in the finals game and defeated it 0: 3 with a Zico show. Tomorrow night, Liverpool will be able to arrange a restoration of that historic game when they meet Mexican Monterey, North and Central American champions in the second semi-final.
