The youngsters from Gröbenzell face a special running challenge.

You are doing a tour of Germany to the handball Bundesliga team.

Groebenzell

- The C-girls of the HCD Groebenzell were inspired by their younger peers, the D-youth handball players, and started a running challenge at the beginning of January.

All clubs in the men's handball league should be "visited" by jogging, running or walking - that means: the young handball players cover the distance that it would take to run to the Bundesliga clubs.

Together, the young talents of the HCD and their trainers have to cover 2527 kilometers.

"Challenging times need motivating training ideas, especially in children's and youth sports," says Rüdiger Hoch, the HCD President.

Since the youth teams of the HCD Groebenzell are not allowed to train and play in the hall during the lockdown, the C-Groebis have also accepted this challenge in addition to their strength and video streaming training.

The opening route led from Groebenzell to Balingen

The challenge started at the Wildmooshalle against the first opponent, HBW Balingen-Weilstetten - the last goal is SG Flensburg-Handewitt.

In between, another 18 clubs are waiting for the arrival of the C-Gröbis.

Every girl can register the kilometers she has covered in a running app and thus take part in the group run.

"An action", says Hoch, which not only promotes the athleticism of the players, but also strengthens the team spirit. "

Especially now during the pandemic, the girls are missing one thing above all: doing their favorite sport together as a team.

After almost two weeks, the young Gröbis have already covered 450 kilometers.

They visited the clubs Frischauf Göppingen, TVB Stuttgart and the owls from Ludwigshafen after Balingen-Weilstetten.

The next destinations are the Rhein Neckar Löwen and the HC Erlangen.

And the girls get prominent support.

The top clubs with their handball stars even cheer on the runners on social media during the Handball World Cup.

The coaching team is proud of their team

"We are very proud of our girls," say Biggi Bischoff, Nina Walbrunn and Rita Gauland, the trainers of the C-youth team.

“As fast as they run from one club to the next, we have to hurry to post the stages they have achieved on Instagram.

The more they are cheered on, the faster our players run to the goal. ”And once the C-Gröbis have reached the end of their challenge, a surprise awaits every ambitious athlete, promises HCD President Rüdiger Hoch.
