Group C of this Euro 2021 is homogeneous because it does not have a clear favorite.

The Netherlands are certainly the best placed in the FIFA rankings (16th) and have more experience in international competitions (European crown in 1988), but they have not been very convincing since the start of 2021. They have not been very convincing since the start of 2021. lost against Turkey at the end of March (4-2) and conceded a draw against a weak Scottish team just before the start of the Euro (1-1).

In the wake of its stars Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong, the Oranges will try to reverse the trend especially as they play all of their games at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Note also the presence, essential in the midfield, of the future Parisian Georginio Wijnaldum.

The other three nations in Group C (Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia) are less experienced.

The first, Ukraine, is a young team coached by the 2004 Golden Ball Andriy Shevchenko and led by the talented Andryi Yarmolenko.

Despite the quarter-finals at the 2006 World Cup, the Ukrainian side did not qualify for the next three editions.

A course therefore uneven in international competitions for the Blues and Yellows which is also reflected in their recent performances.

Without a win since October 2020, the Ukrainian players have just beaten the team of Northern Ireland (1-0 on June 3).

Maybe ideal before the launch of the Euro!

Austria and North Macedonia, on the other hand, have fewer well-known players and very little experience in international competitions.

Indeed, Austria has never passed the group stage in the European Championship (2008 and 2016) or failed to qualify for the 1st round in 2000, 2004 and 2012. It nevertheless has a good string of victories in 2020 but a disappointing defeat against a lessened England on June 2 (0-1).

Coach Franco Foda's team will have a hard time qualifying for the knockout stages. It is the same record for the Macedonian selection which qualified for the first time in its history for the Euro. The 62nd nation in the FIFA rankings has certainly beaten Germany at home last March (2-1) but that does not seem enough to hope to qualify for the eighth.
