Get used to the new title: Yuval Sussman, an Alba Berlin actress.

The German champions announced today (Friday) the signing of the Israeli for the next three years, and he will join Tamir Blatt, who is also due to join Hapoel Jerusalem after the loan season.

In the club's announcement, Alba greeted Sussman with a "welcome" greeting in Hebrew, and noted his selection as the reserve team MVP in 2018 and his coronation as the defensive player of the season in the 2020 Premier League.

Sussman (23, 2.00) leaves Maccabi Tel Aviv after four consecutive seasons, and embarks on an adventure outside of Israel for the first time in his career.

Last season, after recovering from an injury, he had a hard time finding his place in the rotation of Yannis Sapropoulos.

He stood in the Euroleague on a meager average of 2.6 points in 13:34 minutes, and is a partner in only 11 of the team's 34 games.

Alba has won two German championships in the last two years, under the guidance of veteran coach Aito Garcia Rances. The team captain is power forward Luke Sikma, and this summer it has lost some of its top players: Simona Pontecchio and Jason Granger, who sit on the positions of Sussman and Blatt, moved to Basconia, while Nils Gipay left for Zalgiris Kaunas and Peyton Reason was released.

Earlier this week, the Germans announced the extension of the contract of local coordinator Udo Lu, and alongside him, Jonas Matisk and Marcus Erickson will continue alongside in the back line. Interior players Ben Lamers and Johannes Yemen will also remain.

Sussman and Blatt will be hosted by Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 20th round of the Euroleague, on January 12, 2021. They are expected to be the first natives of Israel to play in a foreign team uniform in the senior factory, since Gal Makal appeared at the Red Star Belgrade in 2016. An Israeli duo in the Euroleague has also been around in the past, albeit a long time ago, when Dror Hajjaj and Amit Tamir collaborated in the AEK Athens uniform in 2006.
