A dramatic incident occurred in the American football league NFL on Sunday evening (local time) during the Pittsburgh Steelers game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle pro Darrell Taylor had to be treated on the field for several minutes and then taken to a clinic after apparently suffering a neck injury in a collision.
The 24-year-old linebacker went down in a violent scramble at 17:17 in the last quarter of the game.
He then remained motionless on the field for more than ten minutes while he was attended to by medical staff.
Players from both teams came out to support him.
He was then placed on a stretcher and taken to a hospital.
After the game, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told reporters that the team had received a positive preliminary report on the player and that further testing was needed.
The Seahawks said that Taylor has a feeling in all extremities and that he is expected to fly home with the team.
Carroll also said Taylor wasn't happy to have been carried off the field.
“He was so angry that he was brought off the field like this.
He wanted to get up, ”said his coach.
The doctors would not have let him because of all possible security measures.
The Steelers won the hard-fought duel in the NFL only in overtime with 23:20.
