The "Elite prospects" platform stores stations and statistics on ice hockey players from all over the world.

It's exciting, but sometimes also confusing - as in the case of a Schongauer.

Schongau

- Does the top striker of EA Schongau play secretly in the Canadian league, although he would have to be here in Germany and serve his six-game ban because he had shown the referee the finger in a game?

This question caused a stir among ice hockey fans in the district in the past few days.

As is so often the case, the fault is the internet, more precisely the internet platform "Elite prospects", in which practically all ice hockey players worldwide are listed.

And what do you read there?

Jason Lavallée, top scorer of the Bayern league team EA Schongau, is said to have played a game for Saint Hyacinthe Condor's Canadian team in the "Ligue de Hockey Senior AAA du Quebec".

On the “Elite prospects” portal, Lavalleé is mistakenly listed as a player on a Canadian team - with his Schongau photo, mind you.

Wait a minute - Saint what?

Saint Hyacinthe is a small town with 55,000 inhabitants in the Canadian province of Quebec with a well-known cathedral, not far from Montreal.

Very pretty, but currently mostly frosty.

A bright blue sky at minus 26 degrees was reported yesterday.

But above all, Saint Hyacinthe is 6062 kilometers from Schongau as the crow flies.

"Fake News" about Jason Lavallée

It's no wonder that many thought the 25-year-old Canadian had left to hunt for goals for a club in his homeland, Canada.

“This is fake news, Jason is in Schongau.

He's training with the team, and I've already seen him today, ”reported EAS team manager Martin Resch, immediately taking the wind out of the sails of those who suspected a scandal.

"There is probably a namesake or a mixed-up first name, which led to such a mistake," Resch continues.

He now wants to contact the operator of the website in order to eliminate the misunderstanding and to correct the entry accordingly.

“Jason feels at home in Schongau.

He is fully integrated into the team and he will play for us until the end of the season, ”said Resch, for whom this false report was quickly ticked off again.

Too far to commute: There are 6062 kilometers between Schongau and Saint Hyacinthe - and yesterday at least a mere 27 degrees difference in temperature.

It is a lot more cozy in the Schongau region.

The news that Lavallée was ranked third among the strikers when it was voted “Player of the Month” in December by the board of the ice hockey portal “Bayernhockey.com” is not fake news.

"He was rightly chosen," said Resch, who was delighted with the award for the Canadian.

Important man for EA Schongau: Lavallée has already scored 25 goals in 17 games

The statistics are quite impressive: Lavallée played seven games for Schongau in the Bayernliga in December, and he was on the scorers' list in all seven games.

The 25-year-old attacker had eleven hits and seven assists.

No wonder that the Schongauers watch with eagle eyes what is happening to their star striker, who comes from Canada.

In the entire Bayern League season Lavallée has collected 39 points (25 goals, 14 assists) in 17 games so far.

In the scorer list, Lavallée only ranks 17th, but he has also played up to eight games less than his opponents.

By the way, the most successful player from the Weilheim-Schongau district in the Bayernliga scorer ranking is Peißenberg Niko Fissekis, who scored 43 points (18 goals, 25 assists) in 20 games.
