Open with right foot.
Novak Djokovic qualified tonight (Tuesday) for the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid, after a crushing 2: 6, 3: 6 victory over Gal Monfis.
Djokovic, still seeking a first title win in 2022, defeated his French opponent in two light sets on the clay surface in the Spanish capital and will face the winner between the unending Andy Murray and the Canadian Dennis Shapovalov.
What's more amazing is that the victory of the world number one was accompanied by a crazy record breaking.
Djokovic went up to a monstrous 0:18 balance against his French opponent and in fact became the first in open era history to hold such a balance against a lone opponent.
Amazing.
Make that 1️⃣8️⃣-0️⃣ for @DjokerNole 👏

And with all this not enough, so Djokovic also "dropped another stone from the heart."
The Serb, who achieved his 995th career victory, will retain another place in the world for another week and for now will not let Danil Medvedev overtake him again.
