Following the hosting of the World Under-20 Women's Championship last year, in five days (July 3) the Wingate Institute will open the European Under-19 Women's Championship, featuring the top 17 European teams, for the important continental title.
The Israeli team, led by Greek coach Dimitris from Brutas, ran together for several years, with most of the staff also cooperating in the World Under-20 Championships. The team is now in training camp in Greece, as a final preparation for the championship.
Israel was placed in House A along with Spain, Turkey, Romania and Serbia.
The first from each house will advance directly to the quarterfinals, with the teams that finish in second and third places playing in a crossover against teams from a parallel house for the right to qualify for the top eight.
At the opening ceremony to be held next Sunday, the band 'Strong Black Coffee' will perform and immediately afterwards, the Israeli team will open the tournament against the Romanian team.
The "Peace" band will perform at the final ceremony of the championship, which will be held on July 11, just before the final game.
Ticket sales for the event have opened, with the cost of a ticket for a full game day being only NIS 25. Tickets can be purchased through the Dormers Association website.

"We are excited to host another championship in Israel after last summer we hosted the World Championships for women up to the age of 20 with great success," said union chairman Revital Gloska Cohen. "The crowd played a significant role in the success of the team and it was very exciting to see the pool painted in blue and white. I am sure that in the current tournament the crowd will also come and help the players."
Union CEO Amit Avner: “After a long period of preparation, we are in the final stages of preparing for the championship.
It hosts 16 national teams from all over Europe and a big celebration of dormitories is expected.
I call on the Israeli audience to come and help the team qualify for the advanced stages of the tournament.
The players worked very hard to prepare for the championship and they need the push of the crowd.
I would like to thank the Ministry of Sports, the Olympic Committee, the Wingate Institute and Athena for their help and support in hosting the championship.
This is the second year in a row that the Israeli association is hosting a major competition, when recently it was also chosen to host the European Championships for graduates that will be held in Tel Aviv in January 2024, as first published in "Israel Today".
