FC Bayern presented a completely different mascot “Berni” for the home win against VfL Wolfsburg.

But not every fan likes that.

Munich – He is part of the permanent inventory of FC Bayern Munich: mascot "Berni".

The lucky charm bear has accompanied the home games of the German Bundesliga record champions since 2004, i.e. since the opening of the Allianz Arena in Fröttmaning.

The life-size mascot is extremely popular with the fans, and time and again he encourages the supporters in the stands to support their team on the pitch.

FC Bayern Munich: Mascot "Berni" with a completely new outfit

But: This season "Berni" suddenly looks completely different.

Bayern had already announced that before the home win against VfL Wolfsburg (2-0).

The social media department shot an elaborate video for the presentation.

For example, the old "Berni" can be seen on Säbener Strasse in Munich in goal shot training with 2014 world champion Manuel Neuer, who says that he needs "a new outfit".

Leroy Sané himself takes care of this in the spot.

Jersey after jersey is tried on before the right dress, the current one, is there.

Finally, Alphonso Davies gives "Berni" a new hairstyle in the changing room.

The result: Overall, “Berni” is a bit slimmer and more dynamic than its predecessor, who – like a bear – had a decent tummy.

Another innovation: "Berni" now wears white socks.

Furthermore, the face is wirier, the old "Berni" was very full-bodied.

And: Now the Bavarian bear mascot no longer has cheeky hair above his forehead, but a minimalist short haircut.

Only this little thing was a trademark of the old "Berni".

The fact that the new one looks so different does not seem to suit every fan of the Bundesliga giants.

So, under the posting for the presentation on Instagram, there were a number of comments with the unmistakable request: "I don't know if it has already been said," wrote a follower and answered his own question: "But we want the old Berni back." Another Userin writes in the comments: "I want the old Berni back." Another user says: "I miss the original Berni." In German: "I miss the original Berni."

An Instagram follower, however, is very clear and emphatically states: "I want my favorite bear back!!!!!" Another user tries to be diplomatic, commenting: "Dear new Berni, I'm very sorry for you that you are get a shitstorm for days.

But the old Berni was just awesome and you couldn't do better. ”It wasn't the only fan protest about the Bayern game against Wolfsburg in which the DAZN live stream transmission briefly stopped.

Protest in Munich's southern curve: fans demand red and white jerseys at Bayern's home game

Supporters in the south stand showed a banner with a white jersey and red flock.

It said: "We want red and white jerseys".

The background: Munich's new Champions League kit has a dark gray anthracite tone - and this is exactly the shirt the players wore against the "Wolves".

A look back: There had already been a protest in autumn 2018, at that time Bayern fans who were allegedly organized even plastered bus stops in Munich with their demand for red and white jerseys in the original club colors.
