Two days to the end of the European Athletics Championships in Munich, Israel is in 12th overall place in the medal table • The team has doubled the number of medals won so far in one competition

Unbelievable.

Two days to the end of the European Athletics Championships in Munich, Israel stands in the 12th overall medal table - with five in total.

The team has doubled the amount of medals achieved to date in one competition.

Already on the opening day, it was possible to declare that the current championship is the best of all time for the athletes in blue and white, who fulfilled the predictions and gave the country quite a few moments of happiness, certainly in the same place where 50 years ago 11 members of the Israeli delegation were murdered.

Until the current championship, Israel has obtained five medals at the European Championships in Athletics - most recently in 2018 in Berlin, Luna Chamtai Salpeter did it in the 10,000 meters, in Amsterdam in 2016 Hana Minenko took the bronze in the triple jump, at the European Championships in Zurich in 2014 he won Donald Sanford in the bronze medal in the 400 meters, and pole vaulter Alex Aberbuch, who won gold medals in 2002 and 2006.

This time, as already mentioned on the opening day, Israel obtained four medals.

The marathon team won the team gold medal, with Maru Tefri finishing second in the individual competition, followed immediately by Geshao Ayala, while Luna Chemtai Salpeter added the bronze in the 10,000 meters run.

And just yesterday, Hana Minenko added the bronze medal to her illustrious resume, when we still have Israeli athletes to compete.

43 countries, out of the 52 on the continent, have so far won at least one medal in the most important continental competition in the industry, when on the eve of the current championship in Munich, Israel was ranked 33rd overall, but now it is expected to jump several places.
