While Haching gets a big point in the regional league, FC Bayern II has been without a win for five games.

Türkgücü and Heimstetten lack the penetrating power.

Munich – With the 1-0 win in the top game at third division relegated Würzburger Kickers, SpVgg Unterhaching finally consolidated their status as the top favorite for the championship.

The fact that runner-up FC Bayern II has nothing to do with the title race this season also seems to have been clarified since the weekend at the latest.

The 2-2 win against FV Illertissen on Friday evening in the Grünwalder Stadion was the fifth winless game in a row for the record champions' talent pool.

The Brazilian Caiuby, who was recently signed, is still waiting for his first appearance for relegated Türkgücü.

With the third win in a row, the people from Haching not only defended their lead in the standings, but also distanced themselves from a highly valued competitor.

Almost 3,600 spectators watched a hard-fought game between two teams at eye level.

The leader was compact on the defensive and seemed more dangerous on the counterattack than the Lower Franconians.

In the end, two newcomers were responsible for the match ball: Mathias Fetsch scored his sixth goal of the season (55th) on assist from Maximilian Welzmüller.

"We lost against the best team in the league," acknowledged Kickers coach Marco Wildersinn without envy.

It is astonishing, however, that a number of players are at best stagnating in their second season in men's football (Brückner, Aydin, Copado), the newcomers, some of whom are highly regarded, have not yet been able to demonstrate the necessary maturity for adult football (Lee, Zvonarek, Tikvic) - and coaches Martin Demichelis showed after the fifth game in a row that he was "very satisfied with the fighting performance of my boys until the end".

The last time there was such a negative series in the regional league was at the turn of the year 2016/17.

On Friday evening, the small Bavarians again offered fine entertainment, including two worth seeing volley goals from Leon Fust (39th) and captain Timo Kern (62nd).
