Summary of today's events in sports (Sport1)
In his youth Franz Michelberger was part of the Bayern Munich squad that won the European Champions Cup twice (today the Champions League).
He later played for Reims in France and starred for Kirks Offenbach in the minor league in Germany, but when he is remembered in his homeland, it happens for reasons far removed from the turf.
Michelberger makes headlines in Germany every few years and in the last few days it has happened again.
The reason: the injury of the goalkeeper of Bayern Munich, Manuel Neuer, during a skiing holiday.
Michelberger is one of those footballers who star in parades of strange football injuries, but unlike all the others, his happened right here, Israel.
The year was 1975 and the 19-year-old Michelberger took his first steps in the great Bayern Munich of Beckenbauer, Müller, Rummenigge, Meyer and Co.
He managed to gain a few minutes before the team took off for a training camp in warm Israel.
On one of the days off, the Bayern players took a bus to the south of the country, a trip that resulted in "Michelberger gaining publicity all over Germany" - as was written this week.
The trip also included an encounter with camels and towards the end, the players returned to the bus.
When Michelberger was getting ready to get into the car, one of the camels hit him ("kicked me" according to him) and he fell violently on the steps of the bus and injured his knee.
A few years ago he said: "From time to time, when footballers suffer strange injuries, journalists return to old injuries and call me. I have been told many times that I am probably the only footballer who has squeezed a foul out of a camel."
"Won to be published all over Germany."

Michelberger rarely played for Bayern after that, but to be fair it wasn't because of the injury, but simply because the rotations in those days were very short and he wasn't good enough.
He wandered between several teams, spent most of his career in the minor league, returned to the Bundesliga with Kirks Offenbach (1983/84) and scored six goals in the top flight, including one against Bayern Munich.
In 1986 he hung up his shoes and despite a respectable career, he always returns to the headlines because of that camel in Israel.
