The start of the Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof failed for the German team.
Benedikt Doll's shooting errors cost the mixed relay a medal.
Oberhof – The DSV team started the Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof on Wednesday (February 8) with a disappointing sixth place.
In the mixed relay over 4x6 kilometers, the German athletes were almost 31 seconds short of finishing on a medal.
The teams from Norway, Italy and France took the first three places.
Benedikt Doll was the tragic figure in the quartet consisting of Vanessa Voigt, Denise Herrmann-Wick and Roman Rees.
Nevertheless, he is considered the strongest German player after the biathlon competitions he has completed so far, as he takes a respectable seventh place in the overall rankings for men.

Vanessa Voigt started cautiously and finished her run in eleventh place, Denise Herrmann-Wick was then able to reduce the gap to the leaders to 26.9 seconds.
From here, however, bad luck for Benedikt Doll took its course.
Doll made four penalties on prone, resulting in a penalty loop and a deficit that Doll and Rees, as anchors, were unable to make up.
