Foot: Saïd Chabane, ex-president of Angers, in police custody on suspicion of money laundering

Former president but still owner of Angers SCO, Saïd Chabane was placed in police custody on Tuesday, reveals LCI. He is suspected of organized money laundering.

, Saïd Chabane was summoned on Tuesday morning to the premises of the Central Races and Games Service (SCCJ) of the Nanterre judicial police.

He was taken into custody there.

Chabane bought the Angevin club in 2011 and became its president, until his resignation announced on March 29.

He still remains the 99% majority shareholder.

Saïd Chabane, 58, had already been heard by the police on January 3 before being released.

Sexual assault trial scheduled for June

The headquarters of the Angers club was searched twice, in June 2022 and then in January 2023. Transfers made by the SCO during the last mercatos would be in the sights of justice.

 ," said Saïd Chabane's lawyer.

This is a dark new case for Chabane.

The Franco-Algerian entrepreneur was accused, in February 2020, of sexual assault by three women.

Since then, seven women have been identified as potential victims, all employees or ex-employees of the Angers club or the Cosnelle group (charcuterie products), of which Chabane is the CEO.

A trial is scheduled for June 2023. Angers are bottom of Ligue 1 and almost condemned to relegation.
