In the women's section, the top ranked women also proceed to the third round. Aryna Sabalenka (No. 2 in the world) beat Irina Szymanovic 2-6, 5-7, while Jessica Pegula (No. 3 in the world) won 2-6, 0-6 over Camila Giorgi. The first big surprise came when local Caroline Garcia (world No. 5) was eliminated by Anna Blinkova with 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
