The number of new admissions to intensive care or intensive care also continues to increase.

This indicator is particularly observed by the authorities, who fear an influx of patients who would clog emergency and intensive care departments.

This Thursday, there are 1,627 new admissions to these services over a week, according to the SPF online database.

The current national capacity is around 5,000 intensive care beds.

A total of 10,166 patients have been admitted to hospital over the past seven days due to contamination with the virus.

1955 clusters in France

Among other indicators, Public Health France notes that the test positivity rate (proportion of positive people on all tests performed) continues to increase and now stands at 14.3%.

On Wednesday, it stood at 13.7%.

Finally, 1955 new clusters (foci of infection grouping together "at least three confirmed or probable cases, in a period of seven days", according to the definition given by Public Health France) are under investigation, i.e. 201 more than the standby.
