The prospect of reaching the threshold of 5,000 daily detected cases of the new coronavirus in mid-December is growing further every day.
This Tuesday, the health authorities identify 13,713 new infections with SARS-CoV-2 in 24 hours.
For more than a week, the number of new infections has stagnated around 10,000 cases on average, while the executive had set the milestone of 5,000 as one of the conditions for lifting the confinement on December 15.
France records 377 additional deaths linked to Covid-19 in hospital, against 366 on Monday.
Some 454 people have also died of this disease in social and medico-social establishments since the report released on Friday.
In total, SARS-CoV-2 claimed the lives of 56,352 patients in the country.
25,882 hospitalized patients
In the intensive care units, the decline in the number of hospitalized patients continues and stands on Tuesday at 3078. Monday, they were 3188. In 24 hours, 214 patients joined these services reserved for the most severe cases.
As a reminder, the second criterion established by the government to end the travel restrictions is that the number of patients in intensive care be reduced to a range between 2,500 and 3,000.
After an increase in the last two days, the total number of Covid-19 patients registered in hospitals fell on Tuesday: 25,882 patients were identified (including 1,597 admissions in 24 hours), against 26,333 the day before.
