The victory of Israel II

Israel II won. She won in Ashdod and Netanya, in Sderot and Beit She'an, in the southern Tel Aviv and Jerusalem neighborhoods. The ultra-orthodox and knit alone could not achieve such a feat. The mass of the Eastern traditional public led to an almost unequivocal decision.

There are two main reasons for the depth of the victory: the first concerns the story that the right and Netanyahu manage to tell. Netanyahu is astonishingly able to gather people from around the religious spectrum - secular to ultra-Orthodox - and unite them under a traditional Jewish and patriotic Jewish agenda. He tells a story of victory and success and allows Israel II to be on the victors side.

The second concerns animosity towards the elites. Faced by Netanyahu, the media and the judicial system, a vast array of professors and pilots, and as an alternative to the center-left camp unite around a man who, apart from being a poster of the old elites and "the good and beautiful land," we know almost nothing about and about him.

Anyone who has tried to silence the sectarian demon between the traditional eastern periphery and the Ashkenazi center must recalculate. This tension will remain as long as the intolerable gaps between the state of Tel Aviv and the periphery state continue.

It is interesting in this context to see the results of the union of Labor and Meretz. What happens when the left heads two Mizrahim? He was left with only seven seats, after his main political base fled to white and left to the joint list. These also failed to unite around Peretz and Levi-Abaxis.

Connecting the two points understands the gap between the future picture of Israel II, which is interested in traditional Jewish identity and change of systems in relation to the centers of power, and those who want to return to the old, secular-liberal, "state" order that returns everyone who is not part of the classic Israeli story .

The second victory of Israel must be expressed by a radical change in the distribution of power. The periphery voted in favor of Likud and Netanyahu - and if they did form a government, it would be conducive to working for the public who elevated them. The "automaton" will replace the old elites on the left with new elites from the religious nationalist, while elegantly skipping the traditional ones.

But here's a resounding demand: It's time for Netanyahu to establish the most loyal public with key leadership positions, and exert all his weight to open the gates of academia, the legal system, and cultural institutions.

It is time for a throw-away in education, because even the children of Kiryat Malachi deserve to be doctors or pilots; The injection of power in medicine, because there is no reason for the periphery to live five years less; For the injection of power in construction and urban renewal - because whoever said that only the center has justification for the Tampa 38 projects.

The people of Israel are thirsty for unity, but true. Not one that replicates the gaps that feed hostility and split us in two. The old elites must stop using the old strongholds to oppose the democratic choice of the people. Historical reconciliation is needed here, so that by the next election we will stop talking about the Second Israel - simply because there is not one.
