(CNN Spanish) - The president of the questioned National Constituent Assembly of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, accused the Academy of Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences on Wednesday of causing alarm, in relation to a projection on the possible behavior of the pandemic in the country.

During an appearance on a state television program, Cabello called on state security agencies to investigate
the scientific institution.

"This is an invitation to a tun tun to those who made this report," Cabello said, adding that the authors of the investigation do not have "a single piece of evidence" that the government is not doing the corresponding examinations.

Cabello refers to a study published on May 8, which finds that molecular diagnostic tests to detect the virus, commonly called PCR tests, are insufficient.

The Academy of Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences also projects a peak of between 1,000 and 4,000 positive cases daily between June and September.

After Cabello's comments, the scientific entity reported on his Twitter account that he was being threatened for "doing his job."

Juan Guaidó, president of the National Assembly and also recognized interim president by more than 50 countries, published an alert message about the situation on his Twitter account, notifying the WHO and human rights organizations.

The official government figures of the questioned President Nicolás Maduro collect until Wednesday 440 cases of coronavirus and 10 deaths.

On April 19, Communication Minister Jorge Rodríguez reported that more than 320,000 rapid tests and 5,969 PCR tests had been carried out in the country.
