Five lorries and a tow truck were destroyed by fire at a transport and lorry rental company, called Réseau poids camions (RPL) and based in Voinsles. This colossal fire broke out on Tuesday, around 5 a.m., while the establishment was closed. The flames spread to a 1,500 m2 building.
About 600 firefighters were sent to the scene and had to connect five hoses to put out the flames. It took them several hours to turn them off. The operation ended in the afternoon. The harm is significant. According to initial estimates, it amounts to 000,<> euros. Five Mercedes, Renault, DAF and Scania trucks were destroyed. The hangar was damaged. A trailer parked inside is also parked.
The first truck burned down
The gendarmes opened an investigation which was entrusted to the Coulommiers research brigade with the help of the gendarmes of the territorial brigade of Rozay-en-Brie. According to the first elements of the investigation, a first truck caught fire. The flames then spread to other vehicles and then to the building.
Investigators are looking for a criminal trail and are trying to trace the perpetrator of the fire. They will retrieve all the recordings from the surveillance cameras that could have collected elements of interest for the investigations. It will then take time for the gendarmes to view all the images. They can also count on the analysis of the mobile phone network around the company.
