As much as the U11 of the SpVgg Walls had been looking forward to the Merkur CUP, the team is now creative when it comes to bridging the football-free time.

Walls  - Everything was actually done: The first preliminary round of the Merkur CUP 2020 had long been drawn, the organizers, the host clubs and last but not least the children could hardly wait for the world's largest e-youth football tournament to reach its 26th at the end of March Edition starts. But then Corona came. The Merkur CUP had to be canceled completely.

"The anticipation with us, the SpVgg Walls, was of course correspondingly high - especially since we were in the middle of planning as the host of two preliminary round tournaments," emphasizes Tobias Grießer, coach of the Mauerner E1 juniors. "Well, you have to take the situation as it is. Maybe there will still be some happy ending in the coming year. ”

The SpVgg trainers keep the boys on the ball and in a good mood

After the Bavaria-wide suspension of training and game operations, all units were canceled and the boys and their parents were initially "left alone" so that they could find their way in the new phase of "homeschooling", says Grießer. But soon the children started training again - but under different conditions: "We trainers, of course individually, created short videos with exercises and competitions to keep our nine boys on the ball and happy."

Exercise units are well received by the kids

The spectrum ranged from holding up the ball (with ten contacts there is an ice cream during the first real training session), ball technique exercises and coordination units. "We don't run out of ideas so quickly," says Grießer. The videos were placed in the WhatsApp group - and the units were also well received by the kids.
