Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji stressed the need to cooperate with the United Nations to settle the crisis in Syria.

Asghar Khaji, during his meeting in Tehran today with the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Syria, Ged Pederson, stressed the importance of eliminating terrorism in Syria and preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity because it is the only way to settle the crisis in addition to the return of the displaced.

The Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reiterated yesterday his country's position to resolve the crisis in Syria politically, when he received Pederson, where the meeting discussed political developments in Syria and efforts to form a committee to discuss the constitution, expressing his country's support for the continuation of communication between Syria and the United Nations in various aspects Positive dealing.

Dr. Bashar Jaafari, Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, stressed during a meeting of the UN Security Council on the 29th of last month, Syria's readiness to continue cooperation with Pederson in order to succeed his mission of facilitating a Syrian-Syrian dialogue under the leadership and ownership of Syria and without any external interference.
