The General Organization for Tobacco started today receiving the tobacco crop from farmers in Sheikh Badr Center in Tartous, which opened yesterday at the headquarters of the Agricultural Society in the city.
Engineer Ayman Qarah Falah, head of the agriculture department in the coastal area branch of the establishment and supervisor of the marketing of the crop, told SANA that 250 parcels of tobacco growers are expected to be delivered daily to the center and receive about 6,000 packages with an approximate weight of 200,000 kilograms. He pointed out that the harvest is being received by a committee of specialized experts who have undergone several years of courses, pointing out that the receipt process is under the supervision of the Union of Peasants and Community Activities in the region, pointing out that the committee is changing the expert in charge daily to preserve the rights of farmers and the Foundation.
It is noteworthy that the Coastal Branch of the General Organization for Tobacco started receiving the tobacco crop on the 22nd of last September at the Sardine Center in Banias countryside.Tartous governorate's production of this season's tobacco crop is expected to reach 3 million kilograms of municipality, katrina and tuna.
