Archaeological funerary plaque stolen by ISIS found in Palmyra cemetery

The competent authorities have found in the city of Palmyra in Homs countryside an archaeological funerary plaque, which was looted by members of the terrorist organization "Daesh" from one of the Palmyra cemeteries and left behind after they defeated the area.

The secretary of the National Museum of Palmyra, Dr. Khalil Hariri, told SANA that this bust of limestone, dating back to the second century AD, is made with perfection and is complete. His hair is tufted with a beard, a mustache, his eyes are lusitan, his nose is straight, his left hand holds a key, and he puts his right hand over his chest.

Hariri pointed to the presence of red paint on the shoulders of the statue to indicate the curtain of death behind him.

It is noteworthy that this important painting was recorded and placed and preserved within the corridors of the National Museum of Palmyra.
