(CNN Spanish) - The candidate for the presidency of Uruguay by the Frente Amplio, Daniel Martínez, acknowledged his defeat after the second presidential round last Sunday, November 24.

In a tweet he published this Thursday, Martínez says that the evolution of the scrutiny of the votes observed does not change the trend.

The evolution of the scrutiny of the votes observed does not change the trend, therefore we greet the elected president @ LuisLacallePou, with whom I will hold a meeting tomorrow. I thank those who trusted us with their vote from the heart.

“Therefore, we greet President-elect Luis Lacalle Pou, with whom I will hold a meeting tomorrow. I thank those who trusted us with their vote from the heart, ”he wrote.

"We will continue to defend democracy with more force than ever," he said in another tweet.

On the website of the Electoral Court of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, candidate of the right-wing National Party center, appears with 936,568 votes, while Martínez has 780,981, with 75.40% of the circuits scrutinized.
