Customs officers intercepted a 49-year-old male passenger who arrived in Hong Kong from Moscow, Russia at the airport this morning. During customs clearance, the suspected saiga horns were found in his two checked luggage. The case has been referred to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department for follow-up.
According to the "Protection of Endangered Species of Animals and Plants", anyone who illegally imports or exports endangered species is liable to a maximum fine of 10 million yuan and imprisonment for ten years.
