Before Christmas, a woman in Poland wanted to clean up again - and found it in an unexpected place: in an old sideboard she discovered a hand grenade together with detonator.
The woman from the southern Polish city of Tarnow has taken apart the furniture inherited from her parents, the local police said. She discovered built-in secret compartments. In one of them lay a parchment-wrapped Soviet grenade of the type RG-42 from the time of the Second World War-along with the detonator.
The policemen summoned by the woman informed explosives experts of the Polish army who took the grenade. Danger of explosion did not exist according to the investigators.
