(ANSA) - NEW YORK, DECEMBER 23 - The fur industry is under attack, but does not intend to give up. The ban approved in California for the sale of new similar fur products under scrutiny in New York put the sector on the corner. For the moment, however, the sector is not panicking: "we are frustrated. We have a good story to tell but we have not been good at articulating it" says Mark Oaten, the number one of the International Fur Federation, with the Washington Post. The problem for the fur industry is mainly public relations. The message and the motivations ridden by animal rights activists are strong: the fur trade is compared to slavery, it leads to the violent killing of animals, in short it is to be prohibited. Instead, supporters of the sector are wondering why the American authorities are not deciding to ban guns and weapons instead of fur.
