Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoyogo has announced that the first strategic "Avangard" missile regiment with hypersonic warheads will be ready this week for the Russian army to take over.
Commenting on the strategic tasks entrusted to the Russian army in 2020, RIA Novosti news agency quoted Shoigu as saying that the strategic missile forces will receive next year 22 fixed platforms for the modern Yaris and Avangard missiles, and 3 regiments will be formed for the Yaris self-propelled missiles.
The Russian Minister of Defense added that, on the first of this month, the Peresvit fighter laser systems assumed the task of protecting five strategic missile divisions of the Russian offensive strategic missile forces.
