The historic Longtian Hotel in Shatian, formerly a holiday villa built by wealthy businessman Zhong Xiuchang's wife (Ms. Chen Runzhang) in 1938, is a two-storey building with a square shape and is also known as a “square building”. Until 1951, it became the first hotel in Shatin after the war, but in 1985 the hotel business was suspended. However, the hotel is still a well-known restaurant outside Hong Kong, and its "Three Treasures of Shatin" (ie braised pigeon, chicken porridge and tofu) are extremely popular.
