The Iraqi National Security Council condemned the American aggression that led to the assassination of the two martyrs, the deputy head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Committee, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Lieutenant-General Qassem Soleimani.

A statement of the council received a copy of SANA in Baghdad, a copy of it said that the council held a meeting this evening headed by the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Adel Abdul-Mahdi, and discussed developments in the security situation and issues in the country after the attack that led to the martyrdom of a number of leading figures.

The Council affirmed its condemnation of "violating the sovereignty of Iraq and its rejection of this aggression and its departing from the role and conditions of the presence of the American forces."
