Erekat calls on the European Union to recognize the Palestinian state

Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, renewed his call to the European Union states to recognize the state of Palestine on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and to adhere to international legitimacy resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution 194, which affirms the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes.

Erekat said in an article published today under the title "It is the European Union's duty to recognize Palestine" and reported by Wafa Agency that recognition of Palestine in itself will not end the Israeli occupation, but it is a decisive step that respects the right of Palestine to self-determination and helps progress in settling the Palestinian issue based on international law and decisions International legitimacy.

Erekat stressed that self-determination is a right that is not subject to negotiation, and that linking recognition and restriction to Palestine with the resumption of the process of settling the Palestinian issue means that this right to freedom is subject to the conditions of the Israeli occupier and this will not happen.

Erekat called for the European Union countries to abide by the decision of the European Court of Justice on freezing the partnership agreement between them and the occupation entity.
