The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the shooting down of air defense devices at the Hmeimim base, two planes launched by terrorist organizations from their areas of deployment in Idlib.

The head of the Russian Coordination Center, Major-General Yuri Borenkov, said in a statement that the air defense means at the Hmeimim base detected yesterday evening two planes that were launched from the terrorist organizations' proliferation areas "in the de-escalation zone in the Syrian Idlib governorate."

Borenkov explained that "the Panzzer S air defense system responded to the first attack coming from the northeast, two kilometers from the base, and the second target was hit 6 kilometers from the base, which was coming from the northwest."

The Russian Center confirmed that there were no material damages or injuries caused by the two attacks, indicating that the Hmeimim base continued to operate normally.

The anti-air forces have thwarted, over the past months, dozens of attempts by terrorist groups to attack the Hmeimim base in Latakia by means of drones carrying bombs from the depth of their deployment in the de-escalation area in Idlib countryside.
