Yossi Gamzo, a well-known Israeli poet who has lived in Haifa in recent years, passed away yesterday (Monday) in an intensive care unit at Rambam Hospital at the age of 81.

Dr. Yaron Bar Lavi, head of the department, said that Gamzu arrived on Friday evening when he was unconscious and severely injured after falling on the steps of his home in the Kiryat Eliezer neighborhood. .

Gamzo was a poet, translator, Israeli poet, and professor of Hebrew literature. In 2013, he was awarded the ACUM Award for a lifetime work in the Hebrew singer, as well as a recognition from the Shirat Many Association. In 2016, he won the Eric Einstein Award for veteran artists.

Gamzo has written and published many poems, some under pseudonyms in newspapers and magazines. Among his familiar songs are: "The Western Wall", "Where are those girls", "A sign that you are young", "If all lovers" and "Just a day of sand".
