Doctors will be able to remain in service even after 40 years of activity, but within 70 years of age. An amendment by the Government to the Milleproroghe decree approved by the Constitutional Affairs and Budget Commissions of the Chamber provides for it. A measure already adopted in some Regions and which is allowed to the whole Health Service until 2022.

Furthermore, the specializing doctors can be classified on a fixed-term and part-time basis (to allow, at the same time, to complete the specialization) already from the third year of the course. Another government amendment to the Milleproroghe decree approved by the Constitutional Affairs and Budget Committees of the Chamber provides for it. Graduates will therefore be admitted to competitions for access to healthcare management, "starting from the third year of the training course" and no longer from the last year.

In the event that the trainee wins the competition, provides for the rule, it is placed "in a separate ranking". The amendment extends to December 31, 2022 the possibility for the ASLs to take on the part-time students included in the separate rankings with fixed-term contracts.
