Video game market: growth halt

With a total of around 4.8 billion euros, the market recorded a decline of 2.7%.

After three years of double-digit growth, this time it fell by 2, 7%, to stand at 4.8 billion euros. “Video games are a cyclical market,” explains Julie Chalmette, president of Sell. “The PS4 and the Xbox One have been on the market for almost seven years. It's a year of transition, which precedes the arrival of new consoles. ” Sony's PS5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series X are not expected to be available until the end of 2020, however, with a significant impact on the market in 2021.

Among the 4.8 billion euros, Sell took into account sales of mobile games, consoles, PC gaming, video games (on PC and on console, in physical and digital format) and accessories ( controllers, helmets etc.)
