Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a telephone conversation today with his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, discussed developments in the situation in Idlib.
The website "Russia Today" quoted the Kremlin as saying in a statement that Putin and Rouhani stressed during the call the necessity for the comprehensive implementation of the Astana understandings.
The Astana meetings began in the Kazakh capital early in 2017 and held fourteen meetings, one of which was in the Russian city of Sochi and affirmed in its entirety the firm commitment to preserve the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Syria and to continue the war on terrorist organizations there until its final defeat.
