Berlin (dpa) - In Berlin, a patient has contracted the coronavirus for the first time. This was announced by the Senate Department for Health, Nursing and Equal Opportunities. The person was isolated and treated in hospital. The responsible medical officer has started to follow up the contact persons.

Health senator Dilek Kalayci will inform the press about the case and the further procedure on Monday at 12 o'clock, it said. The Senate administration did not disclose any further details on request.

To date, more than 130 infections with the Sars-CoV-2 virus are known in Germany, which can cause the lung disease Covid-19. With Berlin, there are now ten federal states from which infections have been reported.
