INTERVIEW - The outgoing mayor LR of Bordeaux, who succeeded Alain Juppé, is a favorite in the polls.

LE FIGARO. - You were propelled mayor a year ago, when you were in the shadows as a financial assistant: how did you live this intense year?

Nicolas FLORIAN. - My life has changed. I don't know if I can say it like that, but I'm having fun. I have understood the responsibility and the duties which are mine. It is a widening of the vision and it is motivating. I claim this status as mayor of everyday life, but also this ability to set a horizon, a future for the city.

Alain Juppé got involved with you at the start of the year. Was it important for him to clarify his support?

Electorally and emotionally, yes, of course. Everyone knows the links that link me to Alain Juppé. But I think it was also important for him not to let people think, by his silences, that the one he had chosen was not the one who should be re-elected mayor. The message is clear.
