Death of former runner, Nicolas Portal, sports director of Ineos

Nicolas Portal, sports director at Sky then Ineos, died Tuesday at the age of 40.

The French sports director of Ineos Nicolas Portal, who collected six victories on the Tour de France with Chris Froome (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017), Geraint Thomas (2018) then Egan Bernal (2019) died "suddenly" on Tuesday at the age of 40, announced the British team, without specifying the reasons for his death. "It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the death of our beloved teammate, colleague and friend Nico Portal, who died suddenly this afternoon at his home in Andorra," said the Ineos cycling team in a press release.
