The Governor of the Bank of Israel, Prof. Amir Yaron, announced the appointment of Yair Avidan to the Supervisor of Banks, who will take up his position in mid-April, with the termination of the Supervisor of Banks, Hedva Bar.

Avidan has served in a variety of positions in the banking system for more than 30 years. In addition, Avidan also has rich experience in the payment system and the financial system in general.



Governor of the Bank of Israel, Prof. Amir Yaron, said after the appointment: "I congratulate Yair Avidan on his appointment to the important and challenging role of the Supervisor of Banks. Avidan takes office at a time when advanced technology is changing a large part of the rules of the game in the financial system. On the banking system, both in terms of saving savings and deposits of the public and ensuring the stability of the banking system, and in the aspect of increasing competition and promoting innovation in the banking system in particular and in the payment system and the financial system in general. "



The Governor noted that "I thank the Supervisor of Outgoing Banks, Dr. Hedva Bar, for her great contribution to the Bank of Israel and the entire banking system during her years, to the members of the Detection Committee for their in-depth and strenuous work, and to all the candidates who took part in the process and expressed interest in this important role."

Twenty-one candidates were submitted to the Banking Supervisor's Supervisory Committee, and it interviewed 8 of them.
