The International Football Confederation (FIFA) and the Asian Football Confederation announced today that the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Asia will be postponed in March and June due to the spread of Corona virus.

"After consultations with member states of the Asian Football Confederation, it was agreed to postpone the next matches in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Asia," Reuters quoted FIFA as saying in a statement today.

The statement added that it is still possible to hold these matches on time based on the joint approval of the countries participating in the matches in addition to the prior approval of FIFA and the AFC.

These matches were to be held during the international stoppage period between the 23rd and the 31st of March and between the first and the ninth of June.
