Things are moving these days in Angers. On Monday, the SCO formalized the appointment of a deputy president, Fabrice Favetto-Bon, ex-marketing director of PSG, who will nevertheless take office only on May 29.

According to our information, Olivier Pickeu, the general manager, in office since 2006, should leave his duties in the coming hours. The reasons for the departure of a manager, often praised for his competence and the quality of his work, are not known. A layoff with immediate effect is, however, mentioned.

A few weeks ago, the club was shaken by turbulence after the indictment for "aggravated sexual assault", of President Said Chabane.

A club in good financial health

Recently the name of Olivier Pickeu, 50, had circulated around Rennes in search of a successor to Olivier Letang. With Chabane and Stéphane Moulin, the coach, Pickeu was one of the architects of a simple, but effective sports policy consisting in buying almost unknown players, like Karl Toko-Ekambi, Nicolas Pepe or Jeff Reine-Adelaide, harden them and resell them very dear.

Last year, Angers also ended the season with more than 17 million euros in net profit, almost half of its budget of 36 million, one of the lowest in the Elite.

After a very complicated start to 2020, Thomas Mangani's partners have just linked three consecutive successes, the last Saturday against Nantes at home (2-0).
