(ANSA) - MILAN, MARCH 24 - Since the beginning of the emergency, requests for medical advice for poisoning of disinfectants have increased by about 65%, and up to 135% in children under 5 years: this is the alarm of the Poison Control Center of Milan . "In these days the use of disinfectants to protect us from coronavirus has grown dramatically. In some cases, however, the attempt to stop the virus has led to dangerous behaviors," reports the Center. There are those who are "following online tutorials and those who make DIY recipes to prepare mixtures of incompatible substances", explains FrancaDavanzo, director of the Center. There are those who soak excessive masks and then wear them, inhaling a high dose of chemical substances or who, and unfortunately are the most frequent cases, fill the house with bottles of commercial or handcrafted disinfectants, and leave them within the reach of children, perhaps not labeled. And the very smallest are more exposed: for them the intoxications have increased by 135%.
