(ANSA) - BOLOGNA, APRIL 3 - Agricultural organizations are worried because the Coronavirus emergency is blocking the influx of foreign workers, especially from Eastern countries. In Emilia-Romagna the first difficulties are already emerging, due in particular to the collection of diasparagus and the transplanting of tomato plants, but the problem, if the emergency does not cease, will arise above all in late spring and early summer, with fruit picking.
"Seasonal workers have remained in their country and already in these days some horticultural companies risk having major labor shortages", explained Carlo Piccinini, wine entrepreneur and president of ConfcooperativeFedAgriPesca Emilia-Romagna, a regional federation that brings together over 400 agri-food cooperatives with 55 thousand members manufacturers.
